Calendar of Upcoming Events

Brunswick Eruption 2016

In September of 2016, our newly formed FRC team entered in its first ever competition: Brunswick Eruption Offseason FRC competition hosted by FRC team 25. The competition was based on the 2016 FRC game, Stronghold, where the robots had to score large foam balls in low and high goals. Our team did relatively well in qualifiers and our alliance took 3rd place overall in playoffs. Our team also received the Future Glory Award at this competition. We would like to thank FRC team 25 and all the people that helped make this first event possible.

Hour of Code 2016

The East Brunswick High School Code Club in association with the East Brunswick Public Library hosted the first annual EB Hour of Code in December 2016. Our team was invited to participate in the event to give kids the opportunity to drive a real FRC robot while also showing them one of the real world applications of programming: robotics. Special thank you to Code Club for inviting us!

RU Engineering Night

Our biggest sponsor from the very beginnings of our organization, Rutgers Univerisity, hosts an Engineering Night every year in the East Brunswick School District to spread STEM to the younger generations. We participate in the event each year to spread the community component of Rutgers University and to expand our reach in the East Brunswick School District. A special thank you goes out to the university for supporting our program from the start.

EBHS Relay for Life 2017

When the National Honor Society decided to host a Relay for Life at the East Brunswick High School, we offered to do anything we could to support the cause. We decorated our robot, HERB, with purple ribbons and the R4L logo and drove it around school the entire day. The robot also took laps of the track with the students. Overall, our organization helped collect money for a great cause, something we are always willing to do.

Rutgers Day 2017

Our team participated in the annual Rutgers Day event hosted by Rutgers University. We were located on the campus of the Rutgers University School of Engineering to show people what high school students in engineering can do with a little support. Our robot attracted many kids as well as adults and overall, the event was a huge success. Special thanks to Rutgers MAE and Professor Assimina Pelegri for all of their support.

HAVOC 2017

Our team attended the FRC HAVOC Official Offseason competition with our robot Herb for FRC Steamworks. It was a long day, our robot's rear acrylic panel had to be sawed off in pit crew, our shooter wheel suffered a few causalities, and our endless communications issues left our robot crippled on the field for some time. But our pit crew and team never quit. We opted for a defensive strategy and made an alliance with two veteran teams as the three of us progressed to playoffs. Our alliance came back to win first place at the competition! An amazing victory.

Brunswick Eruption 2017

Our team also attended the Brunswick Eruption 2018 FRC Offseason competition. After a strong performance by both the pit crew and drive team through qualifying matches, our robot was looking like a top scorer with a ranking of 6th. Complications occurred and our score slipped down to 11th in the final matches. While we were not picked for alliance selections, the team learned valuable lessons on what FIRST is really about. It's about working together to achieve success and no one learned that better than the pit crew when team 747 helped fix our climber.

Bridgewater-Raritan FRC Regional Competition

Our team attended the FRC BR Competition this year competing across two competition days. After qualifiers, our team ended up 13th and after dropouts, became the 8th place alliance captain choosing an alliance with FRC 75 & FRC 6203 (a rare honor for a rookie team). After playoffs our alliance ended up 8th overall, however we made many allies and played well. We hope to do even better at the Montgomery regional on the 23rd. Thank you to FRC 75 & 6860, as well as the other teams that helped us.

MidKnight Mayhem

In June 2018, our team attended MidKnight Mayhem. For the majority of qualifiers, we were in the Top 6, even getting to first place at one point. After qualifiers, we ended up in 9th place and became the 8th alliance captain, allying with Teams 2607 and 4653. Throughout the whole competition, we made many attempts to climb the tower and succeeded several times. We also accepted the Gracious Professionalism Award, which is an award to exemplify the maturity and congeniality of the team. Before the next season, we plan to attend two more competitions with OTIS and will strive to do wonderfully.

Move-In Day

After almost 3 years of meetings in a basement, we have finally moved into a formal classroom in our high school! We got new cabinets and equipment and most importantly, transported our robot. We're organized and motivated, so stay tuned for upcoming events!

Hack JA

Ramp Riot

At Ramp Riot, Astraea Robotics brought our robot, OTIS, to participate. During qualifications, we competed and were picked for alliance selections. This was our last competition as a rookie team before moving into our second season. This competition was important for our team as this was the first competition for many new members. This was their first taste of a FRC competition.

Hammarskjold STEM Night

At Hammarskjold STEM Night, we brought OTIS to light up a sense of wonder in the faces of young children. Students, ranging from first to eighth grade, watched us drive the robot, showing them its capabilities. Sparking interest, students had the ability to drive OTIS. Additionally, other FIRST members came to teach youth about tools, wires and motors.
